About Our Historic Cape Cod Bed and Breakfast

Our beautiful nine-room Inn offers first-class, alternative lodging accommodations, providing simple elegance and warm hospitality — a place where our guests are the focus of our attention.  We offer rooms and suites in the original 1846 home, as well as our more recently remodeled, Orchard House.

Our philosophy is simple:

  • We believe in old-fashioned, warm hospitality, and want to exceed your expectations!
  • Our breakfasts use the freshest ingredients and are familiar yet gourmet.  We maintain requested favorites, and are always trying something new in our test-kitchen.
  • Our onsite licensed spa pampers our guests with various selections available for all tastes.

About your Innkeepers:  Amy Chesnut and Elizabeth Newcomer.

Amy is thrilled to be stepping into Donna and Byron’s shoes as the new owner of Brewster By The Sea Inn & Spa!  Amy became a wash-a-shore as a toddler in the early 1960’s when her family drove from Westchester County, New York to spend their summer vacations in Chatham. Her folks made Chatham their home in 1990, and the Cape has always been a big part of her life. Now, after almost 30 years of living on the West Coast, she is excited to be making Brewster her final home. Last August, Amy retired from a 25-year career in non-profit land conservation, most recently with the Sonoma Land Trust in Sonoma County, California. She loved working with local farmers, ranchers and forest landowners to help them figure out how to keep their farms and ranches intact and working, while continuing to lovingly steward the natural resources.  Local food continues to be a passion of hers. She spent about ten years in Portland, Oregon, where she went back to school, and practiced commercial real estate law for a bit. Most recently, she lived and worked on a sheep ranch in Valley Ford, California, which is where she created Sonoma Wool Company. She uses Pozzi Wool sourced from local ranches to create practical wool products for the home — bedding, dryer balls, dish drying mats, etc.!!  Her son, Sawyer, will be graduating from the University of Hawaii in May, 2017 with a degree in Creative Media. To round out the picture, she has an adorable Dutch Shepherd/Lab mix, named Sweet Pea, who absolutely loves her new Cape Cod home!

Elizabeth, our fabulous Innkeeper, recently moved to the Cape from Arlington, Virginia. She graduated from James Madison University in 2012 with a degree in Hospitality Management from the College of Business and after school, went to work at a private country club outside of Washington, DC. During the 3+ years Elizabeth worked in the private club industry she had many opportunities to learn about fine dining service and event management but something was missing…an outlet for her passion for being in the kitchen and cooking for others.

Moving to Cape Cod and embarking on the journey of being a bed and breakfast innkeeper was the start of a grand new chapter in the adventure of Elizabeth’s life. She has the support of family and friends home in the DC Metro area as well as that of Amy and the rest of the BBTS team!  Elizabeth is having the time of her life exploring all that Cape Cod has to offer from the beaches and nature trails, to the shopping and of course the restaurants and much, much more. She looks forward to bringing a new perspective to Cape Cod fine lodging and fostering the magical ambience that guests enjoy during their stay at Brewster by the Sea.

Breakfasts continue to be a special time at the inn with many new recipes offered and guests’ favorites always remaining. Blueberry pancakes and apricot scones continue to be the most requested breakfast, and Croissant Sunday in the Summer has become a recent favorite! Raspberry jam-making continues to be a summer tradition, and we love to see our guests expression when they enjoy a piece of homemade bread smothered with this delicious jam made from the inn’s raspberry patch.

The inn has hosted many elopements, birthdays, anniversaries and special getaways, and we look forward to continuing to be that special spot for our guests, where memories are made!
